The Caravanserai of Mukhtarzada is one of the beautiful caravanserais located in the heart of the old city of Herat, known as "Char Suq" or the Four Bazaars, and has retained its original form until today. Considered one of the most precious commercial establishments in the ancient city of Herat, it was constructed approximately 150 years ago, between the years 1857 to 1860 AD, by Mirza Ghulam Hyder, known as "Jojo."
This caravanserai is constructed in a square shape, spanning two stories, displaying remarkable order and geometrical precision. Its main entrance from within the Iraq Bazaar road is adorned with a grand wooden gate situated at the southeast corner.
Upon entering the caravanserai, the viewer is greeted by four-sided doors, captivating the eyes with intricate decorations on the columns and walls, leaving any observer amazed.
The entrance to this caravanserai features a large door leading to a small sixteen-room courtyard, adorned with beautifully crafted brick ceilings and equipped with three large skylights and eight small wind catchers. Its rear courtyard, without a roof, is adorned with around a hundred beautiful brick columns, meticulously designed to captivate the beholder's gaze.
